Virginia Cannabis Group Client Dalitso Wins Pharmaceutical Processor Permit in First-round Licensing
Dalitso LLC will be one of first medical cannabis providers in Virginia
Richmond, VA – After a months-long application process and hours of closed-session deliberation, the Virginia Board of Pharmacy has awarded conditional licenses for Virginia’s five (5) initial pharmaceutical processors. Virginia Cannabis Group consulted several applicants from inside and outside the Commonwealth during the application period, and are proud to have assisted Health Service Area II applicant Dalitso in their successful pursuit of a license. A representative from Dalitso stated:
“Dalitso is honored to be selected by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy as one of only five pharmaceutical processors in the Commonwealth of Virginia,” aid Jim Layton, managing director of Dalitso LLC. “Our overarching goal is to provide quality patient care and quality medical cannabis to patients in need in our home state. As a pharmacist-owned and driven company, we are passionate about patient care and believe that this patient-first focus will be a key to successfully and safely bring medical cannabis to our northern Virginia communities. A special thanks to Virginia Cannabis Group for helping us navigate this competitive selection process.”
Daniel Rouleau, Virginia Cannabis Group’s co-founder and managing partner, was glad the effort put in by Virginia-based applicants paid off.
“This was a long process, and the field was filled with well-qualified applicants. Virginia Cannabis Group is proud to have been a part of Dalitso’s success. For all Virginians involved, this is a major step forward in the creation of an exciting, skilled bio-pharmaceutical industry that will expand the potential of cannabis treatments and improve our patients’ quality of life.”
The five companies granted conditional licenses pursuant to successful completion of the background check process are:
HSA I PharmaCann Virginia
PharmaCann is the largest vertically-integrated and unified medical cannabis company operating in highly regulated states, with six licenses in Illinois and five in New York.
HSA II Dalitso
Dalitso has come together as a team of northern Virginia-based pharmacy, legal, and real estate professionals partnered with respected and established medical cannabis providers with the common goal of providing quality patient care and quality medical cannabis to its home state. As a pharmacist-owned and driven company, Dalitso is passionate about patient care and believes this patient-first focus and strong ties to the community will be keys to its success in this new and exciting industry.
HSA III Dharma Pharmaceuticals
Dharma Pharmaceuticals is a Virginia-based company that plans to locate in the old Bristol Mall, currently owned by Par Ventures, a stakeholder in the company.
HSA IV Green Leaf Medical of Virginia
Green Leaf Medical, LLC has been awarded a stage 2 license to cultivate medical cannabis in Maryland.
HSA V Columbia Care
Columbia Care operates dispensaries in Arizona, Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, Washington, D.C., California, Delaware, Puerto Rico, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Florida.
“Pharmaceutical processor” is the language Virginia uses to describe vertically-integrated medical cannabis facilities, meaning cultivation through dispensation happens under one license at one location. Upon successful completion of the background check and receipt of the license, facilities will have one year to become operational and begin dispensing medical cannabis oils to registered Virginia patients.
The oils are currently required by state law to contain a minimum of 5mg/mL of either CBD or THCA, and may contain a maximum of 5% THC. Patients may obtain medicine from any facility in Virginia.
